The best free web hostings in 2025 are Netlify, GitHub Pages, Heroku, and Firebase. A little bonus for those on a tight budget: we will talk about Hostinger as the best alternative for less than 2 euros per month.
1 - Netlify
![]()
Do we still need to introduce it? Netlify has quickly become essential. Its advantage? Netlify allows you to host your static sites for free in an automated manner if you link it to your GitHub or GitLab account.
That's great and all, but what is a static site?
A static site is a website that will always appear the same way regardless of who visits it. It is opposed to dynamic sites, which, on the contrary, can detect if a user is logged in or not, for example, to display a logout button. A social network like Twitter is a dynamic site (because the content constantly changes based on the people you follow), whereas the website of a communication development agency is generally static (because the presented content is the same for everyone).
Concretely, this means that on Netlify, you can host your sites created with HTML, CSS, SASS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, ... but not with PHP, for example (this type of hosting is therefore interesting for what we call front-end developers).
2 - GitHub Pages
![]()
You're not dreaming, we can also use GitHub to host our websites!
Attention, this option is interesting if you already know Git and are not too struggling to use it. If you use GitHub to manage your projects online and you have a static site, this is the option we recommend.
Conversely, if you use a service other than GitHub (like GitLab), Netlify remains a more interesting option.
Finally, if you plan to update your project very frequently, we recommend using Netlify instead, which allows up to 3 updates per minute, compared to 10 per hour for GitHub Pages.
3 - Heroku
![]()
How can you miss it? Heroku is a rising star and allows you to host your projects for free, including dynamic projects. Indeed, Heroku will allow you to use PHP, Node.JS, Go, Scala, or Python.
If your project grows (and we have no doubt about that, obviously), you can even switch to a paid plan by paying according to your usage: the more traffic you have, the more you pay, unlike Netlify for example, which offers fixed pricing (which has its advantages and disadvantages).
This type of hosting is therefore very good for a back-end developer (the one who handles what is not visible on a website).
4 - Firebase
![]()
It was impossible to complete this list without introducing Firebase, Google's service. Here, you can host both static and dynamic sites.
Firebase is an all-in-one solution that allows you to manage real-time databases, perform traffic analysis with a single click, add a complete authentication system in seconds by allowing users to sign up and log in via email, Google, Twitter, ... and use machine learning tools.
It's a comprehensive offer, and you won't need to spend a single cent as long as your site doesn't exceed the generous quotas imposed by Firebase. If you exceed them, you can pay based on what you use (like Heroku), unlike Netlify. Your expenses will generally be proportional to your performance.
This solution is very interesting, but it is longer and more complicated to set up than Netlify. If you are a beginner, prefer Netlify instead.

Bonus 2 - Hubspot
HubSpot's free web hosting is ideal for those looking for a simple and effective solution. It allows you to host a website on a managed infrastructure, ensuring security without any necessary configuration. HubSpot's Content Hub includes this premium hosting at no additional cost, allowing you to focus on content creation while HubSpot manages the infrastructure.
Conclusion
To conclude this list, here are a few tips:
- Consider your needs: Is your site static? Dynamic?
- Is it a personal project or a project that aims to grow?
- Do you know and use Git / GitHub?
The answers to these questions will help you determine which type of service to use. If you're unsure, Netlify remains, for us, the best option to start with if you don't use GitHub. Otherwise, GitHub Pages will work very well for small projects.
